Steelers trade flash for force, find 3rd-down success vs. Saints
The Steelers’ third down offense finally came to life. The Pittsburgh Steelers successfully ran the ball on third down against the New Orleans Saints, winning 148-18 and averaging just under five yards per carry. This efficiency allowed the Steelers to establish long drives of eight, 13, 11, 14, and 11 plays. The Steelers also had just one three-and-out on the day, a significant improvement from their previous game against the Buccaneers. Despite being the NFL's worst team on third-down, Pittsburgh converted a season-high 10 third downs on 16 attempts. The team's average play on third downs was under six yards, which allowed them to stay within a respectable distance. Despite a loss, the Steelers remain 5-2 and in first place in the division.
