Pittsburgh Media Partnership: Pittsburgh City Paper
Pittsburgh Media Partnership: Pittsburgh City Paper Pittsburgh City Paper, a newspaper that covers arts and culture in the city, reopened this spring under new ownership and a new office following a five-month hiatus from operations. The paper's parent publishing company, Block Communications Inc., shut down its operations on Dec. 31. Despite this, City Paper publishes in print monthly and online regularly. Its office has been relocated from Downtown Pittsburgh to Squirrel Hill, and the newsroom has retained many of its reporters. The newspaper's core audience is urban dwellers and visitors, focusing on covering the entirety of the city and not focusing too much on the neighborhoods and communities covered all the time. Key to the organization's success is understanding what communities are not being served in the news space and connecting them with others that may be more visible.
