The Pittsburgh Pirates have a significant offseason, with many important decisions to make. The Pirates added Lowe to their lineup from the Tampa Bay Rays last year and he quickly became a significant part of their lineup. Lowe's power and improved defense make him a fan-favorite and he is the best power-hitting second baseman in baseball. The team will likely offer Lowe the qualifying offer, $23.15 million, but he will likely test free agency. Relief pitcher David Bednar, who spent most of his MLB career with the Pirates, has been a standout player for the New York Yankees.
