Pittsfield’s Hubbard Avenue underpass to close for repairs

Pittsfield will close the Hubbard Avenue underpass for a week to repair drainage and pavement. Drivers should plan detours. Pittsfield's Hubbard Avenue underpass, owned by CSX, will be closed to traffic starting on Nov. 2 for repairs to a water-damaged roadway and its stormwater drainage. The city's top highway official, Ricardo Morales, stated that the only safe and practical way to achieve a long-lasting fix is to shut it down for a week, clear out and repair its troublesome storm drainage. Starting Monday, the road leading under CSX-owned bridge will be completely closed to all traffic. The repairs are expected to be completed by Friday. The closure is welcome for businesses who rely heavily on this stretch of road.
