Pain endures 2,922 days after Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, Gov. Shapiro says
Morton Klein, of ZOA, told JNS that some officials can’t “condemn horrific antisemitic acts without including a condemnation of other non-Jewish hateful acts.” Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, who is Jewish, called on Americans to remember the "deadliest act of antisemitism in American history" eight years ago, since the mass shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh on Oct. 27, 2018. Shapiro, a former House speaker, stated that the pain of the attack still lingers in the state. He also named all 11 victims in a statement that included Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.), who was one of more than a dozen members of Congress to issue statements on social media about the anniversary of the anniversary. Other prominent politicians, including Sen. Dan Goldman (D) and Rep. Nikki Budzinski (DIll), and Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D). Jeanne Shahenen (d-N.H.) also condemned both "antisemitism and hate in all its forms" in their statements.
