University of Pittsburgh chancellor, alumna Joan Gabel to deliver Commencement address
Charles Davis, dean of the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, to deliver graduate address. Joan Gabel, the University of Pittsburgh chancellor and graduate of the University Georgia School of Law, will deliver the fall undergraduate Commencement address at UGA on Dec. 11 in Stegeman Coliseum. Charles Davis, dean of the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, will also deliver the address at the graduate ceremony. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and will conclude at 2:30 p.m., with Anna Wright, a student in the School of Public and International Affairs, delivering the student address. Gabel has served a distinguished career in higher education, including president of the universities of Minnesota System and Twin Cities. She also holds several national leadership roles, including chair of the Association of Public, Land-grant Universities, Fulbright Scholar Advisory Board, academic vice chair of U.S. Council on Competitiveness and vice chairing of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
