Pittsburgh rivers cresting after record rainfall

Water is cresting at the Point at Pittsburgh. Several rivers in the Pittsburgh area have crested at or near major flood stages due to record rainfall across Western Pennsylvania. The Point at Pittsburgh is at its highest point in nearly two decades, with a peak of 28.37 feet, and the National Weather Service expects the river to begin to slowly fall over the next few hours. Flood warnings are expected to continue for the area through tomorrow morning.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) – Water is cresting at the Point at Pittsburgh.

According to the National Weather Service, the peak has been 28.37 feet, with some fluctuations around that. The river should begin to slowly fall over the next couple of hours.

According to CBS affiliate KDKA, Several rivers throughout the Pittsburgh area have crested at or near major flood stages after record rainfall fell across Western Pennsylvania.

The river level is at its highest point in nearly two decades and flood warnings continue for the area through tomorrow morning with flooding ongoing in most low level spots, according to KDKA.
